Facts to Know About Utah
- Utah has 'normalized' its liquor laws like the majority of the other 50 states. But remember that Bars are Bars and Restaurants are Restaurants. At a restaurant, food has to be on the table before alcohol can be served. This one is easy to deal with even if you're not hungry: just order something small, then you can drink yourself merry. You can find more information on the Visit Salt Lake Website.
- Acceptable forms of identification
include:a valid passport, a valid U.S. driver's license or military identification card with a date of birth and a photo,or an official U.S. state-issued identification card. If you look like you could be under 40 years old, you are very likely to have your ID checked.
- All liquor, wine, strong beer and malt beverages must be purchased at a state-run store. These have very limited operating hours, and are closed on Sundays, holidays and when voting booths are open. If you're staying in a hotel and want a nice bottle of something for the room, search Utah State Liquor Stores to find the closest outlet. Beer up to 3.2% is available at grocery stores and gas stations.
