Change Management: The People Side of Digital Transformation

Track: Project and Change Management (PCM)

Session Number: 10935
Date: Tue, Mar 5th, 2024
Time: 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Description:

IT projects are never just about updating technologies. When it comes to change management, should you focus on the system switch or the immense culture and mindset shift that is required? The answer is both. In the world of IT, change management refers to a documented change control process that reviews system configurations and functionality to determine changes to be implemented into a production environment. This change control process is critical. However, it is not change management as it relates to the “people-side” of change. IT change control and people-focused change management are two sides of the same coin but hold distinctly different perspectives to advance our institutions.

Higher Education institutions are in a unique change management situation since they serve diverse stakeholder populations with unique needs. In this session, Carthage College Registrar Brandon Porter will explain how Carthage leveraged change management to transform the faculty and student experience through the college’s implementation of the Workday Student system. Brandon will dive into how Carthage engaged faculty and students and aligned the services and resources needed to support both the individual change journey and the organization’s digital transformation.
