Accelerating Student Engagement and Digital Equity Through Mobile Technology

Track: Exhibitor

Session Number: 9943
Date: Tue, Feb 28th, 2023
Time: 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Description:

When students are engaged and feel that they belong at their school, they benefit from wide-ranging positive effects. They tend to use school resources at higher rates, experience better mental health, earn higher GPAs, and graduate at higher rates. But many groups including first-generation, Pell-eligible, working parents, and online students, do not always have access to equal opportunities for engagement. This session will share powerful research around the importance of accelerating student engagement for all students, and look at some of the ways mobile technology has been used at specific institutions to support underrepresented students and prevent them from becoming at-risk.

Tell us about you!: Prior to joining Ready Education in 2021, I worked in higher education for over a decade as an administrator and faculty member. I have my PhD in Educational Leadership and spent the majority of my time in higher ed time working directly with first-year students, the majority of whom were first-generation and Pell eligible via a grant funded program that was coordinated in my area. In addition I was involved in several campus-wide initiatives to improve student outcomes and served on numerous campus committees related to enrollment and retention.
