Integration and Conversion Strategies for a Campus Solutions implementation - Michigan State University

Track: Technical and Reporting

Session Number: 9638
Date: Mon, Feb 27th, 2023
Time: 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Description:

Michigan State University implemented Campus Solutions 9.2 for all SIS modules except financial aid and Student Financial Planning (SFP) for financial aid. The SIS project was started early 2019 and went live for the class of Fall 21.  This talk attempts to summarize the Conversion and Integration strategies MSU designed and implemented. MSU transitioned from a Mainframe implementation of SIS launched in 1992. The Mainframe published data to an AdHoc Data Warehouse. Several business offices connected to this data warehouse and created applications for their business offices. So data was siloed in several locations across campus. The challenge was to convert data from the mainframe and redesign batch data flows across several hundred systems from multiple business offices accumulated over three decades.
