The Virginia Community College System set off in 2022 to launch a series of federated digital assistants (like chatbots with capes). These bots both represented the system's commonality with each college's autonomy. While we presented our vision at Alliance 2022, this year, we will review the first year of our project, the lessons learned, demo one of the bots that have gone live, and explore usage statistics and what is coming next. If you are considering implementing a digital assistant or upgrading from your chatbot, this session will provide invaluable tips and learnings from our journey.
