A complete staff turnover for one of our modules revealed some shortcomings in documentation. Often documentation is written for those who have a background in the module, but what happens when all the expertise leaves? We will discuss how to survive such a transition, some trial and error creating documentation, and a plan for testing new documentation.

I transitioned from an analyst to the lead for the Academic Advisement module. Bringing in a new analyst revealed weaknesses in our documentation, which has resulted in inconsistencies in how we use the system, such as entering academic exceptions, building new requirements, and naming conventions.
