Building Consensus Across Stakeholders: Managing Change in Cloud Transformation
Track: Project and Change Management (PCM)
Session Number: 9644
Date: Tue, Feb 28th, 2023
Time: 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Description:
Hinds Community College made the move to Workday and would do one thing different if doing it over again: bring change management into the process earlier. This session takes attendees through transformation best practices, how to build consensus across stakeholders, and the value of change management in accelerating adoption and learning new ways of working.
Hinds Community College, the largest community college in Mississippi, has been serving students for more than 100 years. It is a catalyst to create a competitive economy and compelling culture for the state of Mississippi. Hinds selected Workday to move from its 20+ year-old transactional system to a true reporting and analytics-based solution to have better visibility into HR and financial processes, allowing the college to better respond in real-time to the changing needs of its students. Live on Workday Human Capital Management and Financials in July 2020, Hinds is currently working on their Workday Student deployment.
The benefits to deploying Workday have been tenfold for Hinds. The college has been able to breakdown silos, reduce manual and paper processes, and more. But with these major benefits come changing the way people work, which is never an easy process. If there’s one thing the college wishes it did differently when starting the project years ago, incorporating change management in the very beginning tops the list. With any mention of a new project, people often start forming opinions and the rumor mill runs wild. Change management helps to mitigate resistance from the start and begin building champions for change.
In this session, Hinds Director of Technology Tamisha Johnson and Avaap Workday Program Director Annaleah Morrow will discuss the importance of aligning stakeholders, employees, and students during a cloud implementation and show just how crucial change management is in a project, including metrics from Hinds Community College from before change management was introduced compared to after. Attendees will walk away understanding how to form a change management action plan, how to incorporate students in the change management process, and the fundamentals of why projects succeed with change management versus why they fail.
