“Accessibility” and “Inclusion”: Beyond the buzzwords
Track: Leading Change
Session Number: 9834
Date: Tue, Feb 28th, 2023
Time: 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Description:
As institutions seek to be more inclusive, it is important to take an intentional approach to change management that prioritizes immersion into the culture of campus constituencies, including faculty, staff, and students. Gallaudet University, the global leader in education for deaf and hard of hearing students, recently underwent a full-enterprise Workday implementation, led by Huron. Aligning with Gallaudet's bilingual mission and values, the change team crafted an approach to change built around accessibility and inclusion from the very beginning.
Join members of both organizations as they discuss how a journey of cultural discovery to understand project requirements and user needs laid the foundation for a successful implementation.

Tell us about you!: Aiming to always be a strategic thought leader and trusted advisor, I serve as a member of the Executive Team at Gallaudet University, and the Chief Operating Officer. My role is focused on impacting over 10 departments and ensuring strategic new capital investments as well as team optimization initiatives such as a WorkDay ERP implementation and human capital resourcing and reskilling.
I consider myself a problem solver, using a structured methodology, leveraging best practices and developing bespoke approaches aligned to addressing organizational challenges. I came to Gallaudet University as the former Chief Innovation Officer for Communication Services for the Deaf (CSD), leading the Social Venture Fund, which provided funding and executive support to various Deaf owned companies. Before CSD, I held a 14-year career at Accenture as Senior Manager across multiple roles in Finance, Management Consulting, Global Operations, and Strategy Consulting. My work with Fortune 500 companies focused on realizing strategic objectives such as streamlining operational efficiencies, implementing new operating models, and developing strategies for how emerging and innovative technology will intersect with business and operations.
