Journey to the cloud: How to assess your institution’s current state enterprise systems and readiness - PART 2
Track: Project and Change Management (PCM)
Session Number: 9891
Date: Tue, Feb 28th, 2023
Time: 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Description:
As public universities wrestle with shrinking state appropriations and the need for high-quality affordable education for students, eliminating costly, inefficient systems and administrative processes becomes paramount. Currently limited by paper-based processes and stagnated workflows, this change keeps institutions on the upward trajectory of being a leading research and educational institution that continues to attract, retain, and develop exemplary staff and faculty and provide exceptional student experiences. Our university’s legacy ERP systems are outdated and not equipped to handle today’s data driven organizational needs. Therefore, it was imperative that we conduct a thorough need assessment that will result in a detailed business case to justify investing in a new cloud-based system. With our assessment, we have set our goals as
(1) identify agile vendor partners that support the evolving strategic direction of the University,
(2) assess delivered functionality to meet best practices,
(3) position the university to improve operational effectiveness and productivity,
(4) improved information quality and accessibility for decision support, and
(5) inventory and identify gaps in the existing applications, services, and systems.
This two-part session will introduce a structured approach using project management and LEAN Six Sigma methodology that includes actively inviting stakeholders at all levels of the campus community to engage in throughout the assessment project timeline.
This is Part 2 of a two-part series. Part 1 is session #9773
