Description:

Northern Illinois University began charging an Enrollment Fee two years ago, but the process was incredibly cumbersome for staff and students.  We went searching for a way to streamline the process for assigning fees and collecting them.  We found our solution in the delivered Admissions Deposit  and Activity Guide functionality. For the 2023 application cycle we have implemented the PeopleSoft delivered admissions deposit functionality and accept admission activity guide with minimal customization.  We will also cover how we implemented the new functionality, including all of the clean-up and cut over tasks for Admissions, Bursar and Technical staff.  Come see how you can use delivered PeopleSoft functionality to make your admission confirmation and deposit process simple for staff and students.

Tell us about you!: I have been involved with PeopleSoft at NIU since 2006, when we began the process which led to the replacement of our mainframe student information system with PeopleSoft. I was the functional lead for the admissions and campus community modules throughout the implementation. Since the completion of our initial implementation, I have worked closely with our technical staff to develop enhancements to PeopleSoft which have, enhanced the end user experience, streamlined our admission process, decreased application processing time and increased processing efficiency. I have presented at Alliance conferences several times on some of these enhancements. I also provide day-to-day support for the admissions and campus community modules. This support includes query writing, troubleshooting, responding to end user inquiries, security requests, cross-module communication and all other day-to-day happenings. In addition to working on these enhancements, I have been fully responsible for all admissions and campus community testing of bundles, maintenance packs and tools upgrades. I was responsible for the upgrade from 8.9 to 9.0 for the admissions and campus community modules as well as several subsequent PeopleTools upgrades. With more than 16 years of PeopleSoft experience in the admissions module, including two PeopleSoft implementations and over 20 years of experience in the admissions profession, I have a great deal of knowledge to share about the profession and the product.
