Campus Transitions: Highlights of an Academic & Technical Collaboration

Track: Project and Change Management (PCM)

Session Number: 9672
Date: Tue, Feb 28th, 2023
Time: 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM

Description:

Implementing a new student information system on a campus is never easy, but it becomes even more challenging if the Academic (functional) and technical teams do not communicate well; are unable to collaborate effectively and the team is faced with less-than-ideal deadlines for implementation.  Join the presenters, as they outline how the implementation project began and then pivoted to be more inclusive of the academic community focusing on the user outcomes and not simply bringing the system online.

The presenters will discuss the ways they utilized this collaboration to develop and successfully fund a transition and operations team that took over the ongoing work once the implementation project officially ended as well as our efforts to continue to build the transition & operations team.  Highlighting the benefits of optimal project management and executive support, the presenters will review their strategies for a successful implementation in addition to sharing our lessons learned. The work of the project team and the transitions & operations team have demonstrated to a skeptical campus that through strong collaboration you can retire a 30-year-old legacy system and implement Campus Solutions 9.2 in a way that sets the standard for software implementations on your campus. Group discussion and Q&A will be built into the presentation.
