Leaving Your Legacy - How SF at Boise State Takes on Documentation, and Why it Matters
Track: Student Information System (SIS)
Session Number: 9607
Date: Mon, Feb 27th, 2023
Time: 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Description:
Bonnie Raper created truly incredible documentation while at Boise State. This legacy has gone on to help our department train new employees as well as troubleshoot and resolve many issues. It also set up our next generation of Systems Analysts with a template for how we document new systems, processes, and process changes that has continued to allow us to leave our own legacy for those who will follow.
In this session, we will explore the importance of documentation, how Boise State categorizes and saves documentation to make it easy to find and follow, templates for documentation, and the impact of good documentation on our department and team.
Attendees will be given the chance to download a documentation template and begin documentation immediately giving them the opportunity to use what they learn during the presentation.

Tell us about you!: I have a degree in English and 10 years of experience as an Analyst (ranging from data to systems). During this time I've seen the good end and the bad end of documentation, with that created by Bonnie being the best I've ever had access to. I've created documentation systems from scratch at previous jobs, and also maintained/created new documentation using Bonnie's system at BSU for the past 2 years.
