Agenda
Count the Trees, See the Forest
Track: Technical and Reporting
Session Number: 9732
Date: Mon, Feb 27th, 2023
Time: 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Description:
Use basic logs, available in every PeopleSoft Environment to answer these questions:
Who is testing this PUM/PT-Upgrade?
What Components/Pages have been tested?
Have the updated Components/Pages delivered in this PUM been tested?
How does the testing this cycle compare to a previous Cycle?
How often does a Component/Page get touched in Production?
Leverage tools such as Splunk or Elastic/Kibana.
Using a tools such as Splunk or Elastic-Kibana you are able to parse your App/Web/Prcs Logs and report usage on the Component/Page Level.
The University of Nebraska and Nebraska State Colleges have been using this functionality to track usage in both production and non-production. In non-production it has been extreme in tracking the testing of PUM/PeopleTools maintenance. We are able to see which users have touched/tested critical components and quantify the level and amount of testing prior to going live. We are also able compare effective testing each quarter and report progress, an advantage in a distributed testing model.
This session is part of the Life Hacks Pathway.
