Description:  At the University of Colorado, employees love SpeedType as a shortcut key for repeated entry wherever possible. They love it in external third-party systems (SciQuest e-Procurement, Concur Travel & Expense) and internal systems (Cognos Reporting, data warehouse, HCM, Campus Solutions). They love it in General Ledger and Accounts Receivable. They want it available throughout the finance system. But the University doesn’t want to customize all finance modules to allow SpeedType.

The recent PeopleSoft Financials 9.2 upgrade provided an opportunity. The University was able to take an unused ChartField (ChartField3), incorporate logic to use the SpeedType table, and forego interface modifications. This approach is unique … and uniquely satisfying, since it makes overall user experience much easier. Employees can use ChartField3 as SpeedType not only on transactional pages (journals, vouchers, billing, projects), but also on inquiry pages (grants, receivables, assets).
